Background on the History of the MJRU

BACKGROUND

MJRU is the representative club for junior rugby union in the Manly district, covering age groups U6 to U18, and representing five Village Clubs in the region.

The five Village Clubs are the core of junior rugby in the district and act as feeder pathways into representative rugby at both a junior and senior level.

COMPETITION

MJRU representative teams compete annually in the Rugby Club Foundation NSW Junior State Championships which is held across 9 NSW venues over the June long weekend.

U10 and U11 teams play in a non-competitive NSWJRU State Gala usually held on the final weekend of the Term 2 -3 school holidays.

MJRU also competes in the NSWRU Youth State 7s Championship. This competition, usually held in September / October each year, and is a great weekend with lots of awesome rugby on display.

From this competition, NSW Rugby Union Youth 7s developments squads are picked in the U15 and U17 age groups.
